Inspiring Interiors #1
Interior design is a fine art; homes should be decorated in a way that is both tasteful and classic, yet still reflects personality and hard work. There are hundreds of well-paid interior designers who can pick wallpapers, accessories and furniture to compliment a theme and create a magnificent show room, but these styled homes tend to reflect warmth and love.
We are increasingly seeing DIY interior design blogs popping up on the web, where artistic home owners take it in their own hands to create stunning, personalised homes. Not only do these blogs show how to create your dream home, they prove that you dont need qualifications to become your own interior designer.
Each week, we will be looking at a blogger and their inspiring homes, and pointing you in the direction of their blog should you wish to follow their lead and get crafty.
This weeks Inspiring Interior comes from A Beautiful Mess. Run by sisters Elsie and Emma, A Beautiful Mess shows the journey they took to renovate their houses into truly inspiring homes. As well as interior design, their blog features DIY crafts for home accessories to really personalise your home.
The white walls and flooring, along with the large window, give the bathroom a light and airy feel. Its easy for an all-white bathroom to look cold and unwelcoming, but the bright accessories like the tassels and towels, along with the vintage inspired roses, really add warmth and thought to the bathroom. The tiled heart may not be to everyones taste, but it provides a sleek statement piece without detracting from the overall minimalist look.
Laura has stuck with a black and white theme for the bedroom, this time using baby pink, charcoal and pastel blues to accessorise. The open space, abundance of plants and light accessories really work together to create a fresh, modern vibe whilst the shag pile carpet, fur throws and cushions add warmth and comfort to the room.
The living room features all white walls, windows and shelves, allowing the beautiful hardwood floors to stand out and shine. Elsie and Emma have picked the furniture to compliment both the walls and the furniture, by featuring a brown sofa, beige chairs, and white plant pots, lamps and table. There is a few well-chosen pieces, such as the mirror and cushions, which add colour and personality to the room without toning down the overall sophisticated feel.
Overall, we love the clean minimalist feel that features throughout the rooms in A Beautiful Mess. The use of white really opens up the space in each room, and provides a clean palette for accessorising. The mixture of neutral décor and bright accessories give each room a fresh, contemporary feel whilst showing off the personality and thought that has gone into choosing the décor.
