Bonfire Night - Oak Furniture UK

The weather may have drastically changed from that crisp, autumnal breeze to a biting cold chill, but there’s one thing we can all look forward to and that’s bonfire night. There’s no better way to embrace the festive season that by enjoying some beautiful fireworks, a blazing bonfire and some truly good company. Bonfire night is the perfect excuse to throw a party, with so many exciting things to do and a whole range of different dishes to cook up for friends and family. Here are a few tips on how you can throw the best bonfire night party that outshines the rest!

Prepare your Garden

It may be chilly outside, but there’s something exciting and festive about wrapping up warm to enjoy some stunning fireworks and light some sparklers. If you create a space in your garden that is suitable for your guests to enjoy, you won’t have to worry about dashing outside to enjoy the fireworks then going straight back in again afterwards. Hang some delicate lighting around your garden to set the scene and create a beautiful feel in your garden. It’s important not to hang these too close to where your fireworks may be for safety reasons! Adding some seating will provide your guests with a space to sit down and enjoy your night’s events and you could even look at providing some blankets to make their experience even more comfortable.

Cosy, welcoming Interiors

You often find that during the party, guests tend to flow in and out of the house throughout the night. If you’ve prepared a section of the garden for them to enjoy then you need to ensure your interiors are just as welcoming and cosy. Create a space where your guests can come in from the cold and warm up with some tasty food and good wine. Draw your curtains to create that warm, cosy feel of having the cold trapped outside whilst you’re in the warmth. If you have a fire, lighting this will also add to the warm atmosphere. There’s nothing more inviting than the smell of a freshly lit fire! For those who don’t have a fire, get your heating cranked up and give your interiors a warm, homely feel.

Tasty Food and Good Wine

On an evening like bonfire night, it’s usually easier to cook up some tasty treats for your guests and let them eat it in a buffet style. You should always prepare some warm dishes that your guests can enjoy such as a casserole or lasagne. Presenting them neatly spread across your oak dining table will add to the welcoming feel and make your guests feel right at home. Whilst these aren’t your typical buffet style dishes, they’re easier to be served up and enjoyed whilst your guests float around the room socialising with each other. Adding some nibbles such as breadsticks, mince pies, biscuits and cheese will give your guests something to graze on throughout the evening and prevent them from going hungry. Then you have the wine to consider. Get your guests some good wine to enjoy whilst tucking into your tasty dishes, as well as watching your fantastic firework display. For those who may not like wine, add some alternative options such as beer, gin and tonic and of course some still drinks too. There’s nothing better than good food and good wine, complemented by good company!

Fireworks and Safety

You can’t throw a bonfire night party without including some stunning fireworks. Fireworks are one of the most exciting parts to bonfire night and will have a lasting impression on your guests too. As beautiful as they are, fireworks are also very dangerous. It’s important to ensure that you’ve dedicated a safe space to light your fireworks, along with a safe space to enjoy them from. For those with pets, bonfire night can be a little stressful. It’s not nice to see your furry friends frightened by the big bangs and loud noises, so set up their bed in a quieter part of the house, along with some of their favourite toys and some tasty treats and then they have a space to go to, avoiding any loud noises.
