Plant a Tree Campaign - Kenya
In March 2016, Oak Furniture UK, in partnership with World Land Trust, pledged to plant a tree for every single purchase you make.
We are committing to plant a tree for every single sale, so in buying a product on our site, you’re actually aiding the recovery of ecosystems and helping to combat deforestation!
Oak Furniture UK was created on the ethos of sustainability and that is, and has always been, our foundations. We make sure we only source our timber from managed forests and sustainable woods. Join us in supporting the World Land Trust - let’s make the future bright for future generations.
World Land Trust has 30 overseas conservation partners across the world and in Kenya they work alongside Nature Kenya, who carry out the tree planting. Nature Kenya, formerly the East Africa Natural History Society, was established in 1909 and is Africa’s oldest and possibly most respected environmental society.

Planting Locations
Mt Kenya is one of Kenya’s key biodiversity sites and is one of the most important catchment areas for water supply for the Tana and Northern Ewaso Ng’iro systems. Mt Kenya is a Biosphere Reserve under the UNESCO Man and biosphere programme.
Home to many threatened and little known bird species such as Abbott’s Starling and 53 out of Kenya’s 67 Highlands Biome Species, Mt Kenya is an excellent site for a sustainable development program. Mt Kenya National Park and the surrounding natural forests have been listed as a World Heritage Site.
Illegal Logging
Illegal extraction of wood occurs all over the world and Kenya is no exception. However, partnerships between local communities, the Kenya Forest Service, Nature Kenya and WLT are working together to combat this. Unfortunately much of the land has already been deforested through extraction and encroachment which is a major threat to the ecosystem. WLT’s tree planting programme aims to replace and restore the forest.
